Sixth Death in Fukuoka – Thirty More Infections – Three Hour Ambulance Ride – Hotel Subsidies Offer by Kitakyushu

Local authorities in Fukuoka Prefecture reported 30 more confirmed COVID-19 infections on April 15, bringing the cumulative total to 436. On the same day, the prefecture saw its sixth corona-linked death, involving a Fukuoka City-resident in his eighties. As regional medical institutions struggle to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, an ambulance transporting a possible coronavirus patient was reportedly was rejected by four institutions until the man was finally hospitalized three hours later. The fire department is investigating the matter seriously as similar cases have been reported in other parts of the country. Meanwhile, Kitakyushu City announced a new telework support system to its residents. To support those living with small children, or in other unsuitable environments for home-working, the city would cover hotel expenses up to ¥3,000 per night.
