The Monde Selection international institute in Brussels for evaluating product quality has awarded a gold medal in the food seasonings division to the original salad dressing created by the proprietors of Yoshoku-ya Bank, a 10-table restaurant in Imari, Saga Prefecture. The dressing, made on the premises every morning, is not pasteurized and makes extensive use of fresh vegetables. Now sold on the Internet, the dressing is become popular because it helps children who hate vegetables willingly eat salads. Current proprietor Kazuyo Ohata said, “I’m happy that a restaurant such as ours has gotten world-wide recognition.”
