The SoftBank Hawks are set to acquire 30-year-old right-handed pitcher Naoyuki Uwasawa, who previously played for the Nippon-Ham Fighters and briefly in Major League Baseball. Uwasawa, known for his fastball and varied breaking pitches, boasts 70 career wins in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
After leaving NPB last offseason, Uwasawa signed a minor league deal with the Rays, later moving to the Red Sox, where he made two MLB appearances. However, he struggled in the minors and became a free agent.
The Hawks pursued Uwasawa to bolster their pitching lineup after Shuta Ishikawa, another key right-handed starter, transferred to the Chiba Lotte Marines via free agency. Source: NHK
