Pohang, a city of 510,000 located in the southeast of South Korea, will launch a new training system for its municipal employees this week by sending them for a week’s stay in Fukuoka City or Kitakyushu to study urban revitalization through development and environmental policies. They plan to send 1,000 employees, or half their workforce, by the end of next year. The city is noted for its ties with large steelmaker Posco.
