StarFlyer Bookings Down 10% for Golden Week

StarFlyer, based in Kitakyushu, announced that reservations for its flights during the upcoming 11-day Golden Week holiday (April 26–May 6) are down approximately 10% year-on-year as of April 18. While seat capacity remains steady at around 64,700, only about 37,300 seats have been booked, lowering the reservation rate to 57.7%—a 6.5-point decline and the first year-on-year drop since COVID-19 was reclassified in 2023. The company attributes the decline to the unfavorable alignment of weekdays, which makes it harder for travelers to take extended holidays.
The busiest travel days are forecasted for May 3 (departing) and May 6 (returning) on Kitakyushu-Haneda routes, and April 27 (departing) and April 26 (returning) for Fukuoka-Haneda. StarFlyer notes that last-minute bookings remain a common trend in recent years. Source: NHK
