State of Emergency For Fukuoka Prefecture Officially Announced

In an announcement yesterday, the government formally decided to declare a state of emergency in Fukuoka Prefecture for the fourth time (from the 20th of this month to the 12th of next month.) The declaration includes a request to restaurants and other establishments throughout the prefecture to cease serving alcohol. Specifically, restaurants that serve alcohol and karaoke will be asked to close their doors, and other restaurants will be asked to shorten their business hours to 8:00 p.m. throughout the prefecture. Small and medium-sized companies will receive ¥40,000 to ¥100,000 per day depending on their sales, while large companies will receive up to ¥200,000 per day depending on the amount of sales lost. The government will also ask department stores and other large-scale facilities throughout the prefecture to shorten their business hours to 8:00 p.m. and restrict visitors. In addition, the prefecture will continue to ask its residents to refrain from going out unnecessarily or traveling across prefectural borders. This is the fourth time that a state of emergency has been declared in Fukuoka Prefecture. Source: NHK
