Drugstore chain Cosmos Pharmaceutical began selling government stockpiled rice in over 200 stores in Fukuoka Prefecture and select locations in Oita, Saga, and Nagasaki on June 4. This marks the first time such rice, acquired through non-competitive government contracts, is being sold in Kyushu. The rice, from the 2022 harvest, is priced at ¥1,980 for 5 kg. Sales were not announced in advance to prevent confusion, and purchases are limited to one bag per customer. The company plans to expand sales to its 1,600 locations nationwide. Source: NHK
