In the afternoon of May 9, an object arousing suspicion was discovered in the restroom of JR Hakata Station in Fukuoka City. Approximately three hours later, the object was safely retrieved by the police, with no injuries reported. However, the scene was temporarily chaotic. A report was received from a station employee at JR Hakata Station in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, at around 12:30 p.m. on May 9, stating that a cleaner had found a suspicious object in the men’s restroom within the station.
According to the police, an object resembling a paper bag wrapped with adhesive tape was found on the floor of a cubicle in the men’s restroom on the first floor of the station. The police restricted access to the area surrounding the men’s restroom, and a special unit was dispatched to transport the suspicious object in specialized equipment.
The restricted access lasted for approximately three hours, and although no one was injured, the incident caused temporary commotion in the station used by a large number of people. Alongside investigating the retrieved object, the police are urging people to report immediately without touching any suspicious objects they might find.
On the other hand, JR Kyushu stated that they had been informed by the police that there was no risk of explosion. Thus, the operations of the Kyushu Shinkansen and conventional lines were not affected.
