Typhoon Maysak is approaching Northern Kyushu, bringing expected-maximum wind gusts of 30 m/s across inland Fukuoka Prefecture tonight. The Japan Meteorological Agency warns people to take precautions against high waves, lightning, tornados, and mudslides, and flooding in lower lands, as the powerful typhoon comes closest to Fukuoka beginning early evening to late night today (September 2.) Also, heavy rainfall of up to 40 mm/h is expected in Fukuoka and Chikugo. As of noon on Sep. 2, JR Kyushu announced the cancelation of afternoon trains departures on the Midori and Huis Ten Bosch lines, in addition to reduced operation for the Kamome and others.
