Supermarkets, Drugstores to Open in State of Emergency

Local supermarkets and convenience stores have announced regular or shortened hours of operation following the declaration of a state of emergency in Fukuoka Prefecture. Supermarkets including Aeon, Maxvalu, Nishitetsu Store, Marukyo, and Helloday will be open as usual (some with reduced hours.) Major convenience stores such as Seven-Eleven, Lawson, and Familymart are also planning to continue normal operations, except for possible closures at individual shops at the owner’s discretion or orders from local authorities. Most drug stores will open unless they are located inside otherwise closed commercial facilities. Shops are advising the public to check their websites before heading out. Source: NHK
