A group called Tag Festival has been set up in Fukuoka. Aiming to spread a form of rugby that is played without the more dangerous elements of the game such as tackling, the organization has a session for elementary and junior high school students. A regular walking tag rugby session has also been set up for high school students or older who want to get involved. One of the main differences between tag (or touch) rugby is that players “tackle” by snatching a belt off their opponent’s waist. It is hoped that encouraging this version of the sport will help raise awareness for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Source: Tag Festival website
