The herb lemon grass is one of the special products of Takeo, Saga Prefecture, and that herb is disliked by wild boars. The area also has a problem with wild boars rooting through farmers’ crops. The city has put two and two together and come up with the idea of conducting a trial to spread the herb’s active ingredients on farmland to keep wild boars away. The trial will be conducted starting in the new fiscal year. If successful, the city plans to use the ingredients to manufacture a commercial repellent.
