Taketa Offers Rental Car Travel Cashback

Taketa City in Oita Prefecture launched a cashback campaign on April 29 offering up to JPY 8,000 to rental car tourists to encourage local travel and spending. The program runs through February 2027 and targets visitors from outside the city. Travelers who spend at least JPY 5,000 on shopping or services, excluding accommodation and fuel, can receive JPY 3,000. Additional incentives include JPY 2,000 for renting a car from a local provider and JPY 3,000 for staying overnight in the city. Applications must be submitted with receipts and rental documents at the local tourism office near Bungo-Taketa Station. The initiative aims to boost visitor circulation and attract tourists traveling to nearby destinations. Source: Nikkei / Taketa City
