Task Force Patrols Orchards to Protect Fruit

Fukuoka Prefectural Police set up a special task force to protect local fruit farms. The team, named ‘Kajuen Mamori Tai’ (果樹園守り隊), consists of officers at nine police boxes in the Asakura area. To prevent the stealing of ready-to-harvest fruits, they patrol local farms at nighttime. During 2018, the region has experienced a case in which 4,500 pears (worth ¥450,000) was picked without permission. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture Police / Nikkan Keisatsu
