Tax Refund Frauds On The Rise in Fukuoka

The number of tax refund fraud cases reported in Fukuoka City has increased considerably. With 75 such cases reported within 2021,  the city and the local police ask people to look out for suspicious phone calls: Some criminal groups called up residents to give false deadlines for filing their medical or health-insurance expenses, and immediate ATM money transmission was required in order to get the refund. Please make sure that local offices DO NOT ask people to use ATMs for any similar procedures – call #110 immediately in such cases. Source: NHK / Fukuoka City
