A 15-year-old boy who was handcuffed and arrested for allegedly running a red light on a motorbike early on November 2 in Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture, escaped from police custody for more than 17 hours before being recaptured that evening. Police said the teen fled when several dozen bystanders surrounded officers, preventing them from moving him into a patrol car. He was later re-arrested for driving without a license and disobeying a traffic signal, but the handcuffs used during the initial arrest were missing. Authorities believe the crowd had gathered in response to a social media post about a planned reckless-driving event. The suspect has admitted to the charges. Source: TNC
