The Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo announced that a Consulate-General has been established in Fukuoka. The Consul-General paid a visit to Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Hiroshi Ogawa on October 1 to mark the occasion and expressed a desire to deepen the relationship that exists between the two countries. The office, which will be temporarily based in Hakata, has been charged with supporting Thai residents and tourists in Japan. The consulate-general will have jurisdiction over 13 prefectures throughout the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Chugoku regions. The consulate will eventually move across to the Tenjin area and start issuing visas from next spring. Source: NHK News Web, 10/1
