Finishing his three-year chapter in Fukuoka on the JET Program, American expat Eryk Salvaggio recently announced the release of his first book – a collection of essays titled “This Japanese Life”. Eryk writes a popular blog of the same name which explores Japanese culture and the anxieties of being an expatriate. The essays explain aspects of Japanese culture in a personal and thoughtful way. “Most books about Japan can tell you how to use chopsticks or say “konnichiwa.” Few tackle the real stress of life in a radically different culture.” Eryk previously contributed to Fukuoka Now, along with McSweeney’s, The Japan Times, Tofugu and Kulturaustausch.
