The city of Kitakyushu announced the results of their trial incineration of 80 tons of debris from Miyazaki Prefecture from the 23rd to the 25th. They said the ash released by the burning had 19-30 becquerels of radioactivity per kilogram, far below the government’s minimum allowable standard of 8,000 becquerels per kilogram. People in the agriculture and fishing industries are still concerned that incineration in the city will harm the reputation of their products nationwide, however.
