Kitakyushu-based Toto announced it will furlough 700 employees from three group companies at five plants nationwide. The company says the group is operating at 80% of capacity due to a downturn in housing starts and reduced semiconductor demand. The company also said that the furlough could be expanded to other employees if the economy does not improve.
