Toyota Delays EV Battery Plant Agreement In Kyushu

Toyota Motor has informed Fukuoka Prefecture that it will delay the signing ceremony for a planned electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Kanda Town, originally scheduled for April. The postponement, expected to last until autumn, comes amid slowing global EV demand. However, Toyota confirmed to media that the project itself remains intact. The plant, to be built in the Shin-Matsuyama Coastal Industrial Park, is expected to produce next-generation EV batteries with improved range, cost-efficiency, and charging speed. The facility is still scheduled to begin operations in 2028. Source: NHK
