Toyota Kyushu Using Hydrogen Powered Forklifts

Toyota Motor Company Kyushu (Miyawaka City) has begun utilizing hydrogen powered forklifts at its Miyata factory. This is the first time hydrogen has been used as source of power inside a Japanese factory. The forklifts began operation on March 21, with two currently in operation and there are plans to increase the number in the future. Solar panels on the roof power the hydrogen generator used to charge the batteries in the forklifts. The CEO said this was a successful first step to reduce CO2 emissions during automobile manufacturing. Source: Yomiuri Online, 3/22
