Fukuoka Prefecture has designated Toyota Motor Kyushu as the first “Fukuoka Agriculture Supporter” for the company’s proactive use of local foods in its employee cafeterias. After receiving a certificate at the Prefectural Office on June 24, Senior Managing Director Sadahito Baba remarked that Toyota Motor Kyushu “will aim to use 100% locally-sourced foods”. Last July, Toyota Motor Kyushu started implementing “Eat Local Days” once a month in its three employee cafeterias. In addition to providing menu items made from locally-sourced foods, the company also displays local foods in its Visitor Center. At the certificate conferral ceremony, Governor Ogawa thanked Toyota Motor Kyushu by saying, “Not only has the company become part of the community, it is also a supporter of local producers.” Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, June 25
