Prefectural governors in Kyushu, Okinawa, and Yamaguchi agreed during an online meeting to gradually relax requests on refraining from travel across prefectural borders. Reflecting upon the lifting of the state of emergency across the nation, visits to prefectures other than the Tokyo metropolitan areas (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama) as well as Hokkaido may be resumed from June 1. Plans for travel to the remaining five prefectures require extra caution until June 18. Meanwhile, Kitakyushu City announced two more confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections on May 26, marking the fourth straight day of new virus infections. With raised alertness against the second wave of infections, the city announced postponements for the reopening schedules for local facilities, including Kokura Castle, which resumed operation recently. No other cases were found in the prefecture on the same day, and the cumulative total now stands at 674. Sources: KBC / Fukuoka Prefecture / Nikkei / NHK / Yomiuri
