Trials will begin in the Fukuoka City area for the Nishitetsu contactless payment card nimoca, to be introduced on May 18 for use for train fares and as e-money, at four Lawson’s convenience stores in the city. If the trial goes smoothly, the system will be expanded to the roughly 50 Lawson’s outlets in the metropolitan area. The company plans to further extend the use to the Lawson’s outlets throughout Kyushu. A bonus point system for card use will not be instituted, however.
