Two Arrested in Cannabis Seizure at Hakata Port

In June, authorities intercepted a pickup truck ferrying a large amount of cannabis from Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture to Hakata Port. Consequently, two men in their 40s, both residents of Tsushima City, were arrested and charged under Japan’s Cannabis Control Act. The seized cannabis, when dried, is projected to be worth approximately 32 million yen on the street. Currently, law enforcement officials are probing if these men were operating as part of an organized crime syndicate.

This arrest stems from intel suggesting illicit cannabis cultivation in Tsushima. Consequently, a cooperative investigation was launched by the police forces of Fukuoka and Nagasaki prefectures. Source: NHK
