Japanese police have referred two U.S. Marines stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture to prosecutors over alleged thefts from restaurants in Fukuoka’s Nakasu entertainment district. Investigators suspect the two servicemen, aged 26 and 20, of breaking into six closed restaurants in December and stealing more than ¥400,000 in cash. Authorities say the suspects allegedly entered the establishments after business hours and repeated similar thefts. Their involvement was identified through security camera footage and other investigative findings. Police have not disclosed whether the men admit the allegations, citing possible impacts on the investigation. The two were also previously referred to prosecutors and later indicted over a separate theft case involving a restaurant in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district in December. Source: NHK News / TBS News Dig
