Typhoon 15 Kong-Rey

The Japan Weather Association released information this morning that “Typhoon 15 Kong-rey” is currently moving northerly across the country from Yonaguni Island, Okinawa. As a result, much of Japan – including Kyushu – is expected to experience heavy rains and strong wind over the weekend, possibly continuing into early next week. The typhoon is expected to hit Senkaku Island (Okinawa) by noon today 8/29 with rain of up to 50ml/h, and continue upwards across the country. The typhoon is expected to pass through Kyushu between 21:00 and 03:00 tonight, but the rain and wind will become heaviest over the weekend with max sustained winds 62 km/h with stronger gusts possible.
