Fukuoka City has completed a project to bury power lines along the 1.2-kilometer stretch of prefectural road from Saitozaki to Shikanoshima Island, removing over 50 utility poles. The project is expected to enhance scenic views and strengthen disaster resilience, particularly against typhoon-induced outages. On April 28, about 30 people, including Mayor Takashima and local residents, attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Local resident Azumi expressed hope that the improved landscape would attract more visitors to Shikanoshima, a historic site. Source: Fukuoka City / NHK
