UNESCO Advisory Body Demands Preservation of Old Mojiko Station Remains

ICOMOS, an advisory body to UNESCO, has issued a “Heritage Alert” urging the preservation of the remains of the old Mojiko Station in Kitakyushu. The city plans to demolish the site for new public facilities, but ICOMOS argues that the remains have significant historical value and has called for a halt to construction. Kitakyushu Mayor acknowledges the concerns but insists on proceeding due to the aging of surrounding infrastructure. Source: ICOMOS / NHK
