Miike Coal Mine, a UNESCO world heritage site located in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, suffered severe damage after recent torrential rains. According to Omuta City, the record-setting rain caused landslides at fifteen spots along with the remains of the Miike Coal Railway, and partially covering the tracks with sand. The city is currently working to remove the sand, but full restoration is not possible. Source: NHK
