From Dec. 18, United Cinemas Canal City 13 will be offering 4DX seats. Canal City is one of the five locations in Japan that will be opening theaters with these seats in Dec. 2015. Customers who sit in 4DX seats will experience 11 effects:
1. Motion: seats move backwards, forwards and sideways. There is also a device which hits the seats from behind.
2. Rain: water is sprayed from above.
3. Water: mist is sprayed from behind the seat, and from the back of the seat in front.
4. Air: air is blown from a nozzle behind the seat, and from one in the back of the seat in front.
5. Wind: air is fanned from above the seats.
6. Lightning: lights above flash.
7. Scents: faint scents are sprayed from a nozzle in the back of the seat in front.
8. Fog: fog machines blow smoke in front of the screen.
9. Bubbles: bubbles are blown from the ceiling of and front of the theatre.
10. Rain storm: water and wind are sprayed from above.
11. Snow: small foam plastic balls are scattered from above.
The 4DX seats will be used for both 2D and 3D showings. Movies that will be shown in 3D using 4DX seats this December include Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and Mad Max: Fury Road.
