Kyushu Electric Power and Saibu Gas both announced rate hikes for electricity and gas respectively to take effect in February. The new prices are a result of the system that reflects changes in oil and fuel prices. The price of both oil and liquid natural gas has risen for four straight months. Based on what both utilities consider model households, the price of electricity will rise by nine yen a month, while that of gas will rise 28 yen a month.
