Utility Poles Removed to Boost Scenic Landscape Near Itoshima

On April 20, a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of a project to remove utility poles along a coastal road stretching from Fukuoka City to Itoshima City. The city of Fukuoka aims to attract tourists by enhancing the scenic landscape along the coast. Over the past three years, the city of Fukuoka has been working on a project to remove 17 utility poles along a 640-meter stretch of the coast in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City, and bury the power lines underground along the “Futamigaura” coastal road, which extends from Fukuoka City to Itoshima City. The area where the project was carried out has been experiencing depopulation, and the city hopes to attract tourists and visitors on workations, who can work while enjoying their vacation in the scenic area.
