Utility Poles To Be Taken Down To Save View

Fukuoka City is said to be planning to remove utility poles from some areas of the Shikanoshima and Itoshima peninsulas, using income from the recently implemented accommodation tax. A source revealed that the plans would be included in the draft budget for the fiscal year of 2020 as a part of the city’s efforts to promote local tourism. By creating a better landscape, the city hopes to increase visits to the areas as images spread on social media, and awareness is heightened. Source: Yahoo News 01/21/2020 Photo: Nick Szasz
