Hyugami Dam in Yame, used mainly for agricultural water, fell to a storage rate of 0% on August 29. Kurogi in Yame recorded only 25.5 millimeters of rain in August, less than one-tenth of the amount recorded in the same month last year. The prefecture said the dam last reached zero storage in 2019. Officials are releasing about 1.5 million tons of normally unused water from the bottom of the reservoir, enough to provide roughly one week of agricultural supply. The prefecture is asking nearby farmers and residents to conserve water. Source: TNC News / Nishinippon Shimbun
