Yanmar Holdings announced on April 7 that it will build a new factory in Kitakyushu to produce large emergency generators for data centers, with operations planned for 2028. The facility will be developed by subsidiary Yanmar Energy Systems on a 62,000-square-meter site, with initial annual production of around 100 units. Demand for backup power systems is rising alongside the expansion of AI-driven data centers. The company cited Kitakyushu’s manufacturing base, logistics infrastructure, and concentration of renewable energy industries as key factors in the decision. The investment amount was not disclosed, and production will focus primarily on the domestic market. Source: Yanmar / Nikkei
