Kitakyushu-based Yaskawa Electric has developed a device for removing up to 90% of the sludge and waste matter generated by food production plants and sewage processing plants. The new device, which requires only an electrical source and piping to install, reduces running costs by 30%, and cuts by half the amount of ozone created by existing equipment. Based on calculations of 2,000 tons of sludge generated daily, it would reduce disposal costs by 10 million yen per year compared to not using any equipment at all. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun
