Yaskawa Electric is planning to construct a new factory within its Yahatanishi Plant premises in Kitakyushu City, focusing on the end-to-end production of industrial robots, starting from the motor components. The new two-story factory will have a total floor area of around 28,000 square meters. Construction is set to begin in the 2024 fiscal year, aiming for operation in 2025. The total investment is estimated to be around 20 billion yen. The new facility is expected to increase the group’s monthly robot production capacity by 1.5 times from the current 5,400 units, responding to the growing demand for robots due to the expansion of the semiconductor and electric vehicle (EV) markets.
