On Feb. 29, Plenus (a Fukuoka-based company) announced they will open the first US branch of Yayoiken (teishoku restaurant) in San Francisco, California on Mar. 4. America is the fifth country overseas in which the company has opened Yayoiken restaurants (or “Yayoi” as the restaurants are called overseas), and there will be six branches in the US by Feb. 2017. The San Francisco branch will serve their basic menu, including favorites such as shogayaki teishoku (pork and ginger stir-fry, US$15.50). In June 2015, Plenus established a development company to help these restaurants improve their management systems. The San Francisco branch will most likely use tablet devices to take orders. See Yayoiken’s American website here.
