Yoshino Hospital will relocate to the site of the University of Occupational and Environmental Health’s Wakamatsu Hospital in Kitakyushu, according to a revised plan announced on Sep. 24. Wakamatsu Hospital, the ward’s only emergency facility handling patients who need surgery or admission, is closing after sustained losses. Of its 150 beds, 110 will transfer to the university hospital in Yahatanishi Ward, while Yoshino Hospital will inherit 40 in addition to its existing 143. Wakamatsu Hospital will close at the end of April 2027, with consolidated services at the university hospital beginning on May 6.
