Now in it’s sixth year the Against Fukuoka Extreme Music Festival has gained a solid reputation and following in Japan and also internationally. Against is one of the world’s most unique festivals of extreme music which includes performances, discussions, exhibitions and workshops by local and international noise, improv, free jazz, punk and grindcore musicians. The 2013 festival features performances by Jojo Hiroshige (Hijokaidan), Sudden Infant, Lasse Marhaug (Jazkamer), Paal Nilssen-Love (The Thing / Atomic) and also Jim O’Rourke (Sonic Youth, Gastr Del Sol, Loose Fur).

Sudden Infant is the solo project of Swiss sound artist/performer Joke Lanz. This is the first time for Joke to perform in Fukuoka. Also featured will be Fukuoka noise acts HerceL and Hurricane Grind.
