Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture Hiroshi Ogawa announced his attention to run for a third term in next springs’ election. Ogawa is expected to officially announce his intention during the prefecture’s December assembly ahead of any other candidates. The Fukuoka-born governor first won the election in 2011 with a backup of LDP and former DP. However, his relationship with the supporting party is said to be not as stable as before after the election in 2015. Ogawa has been paying close attention to the restoration process from the severe rainfall in 2017. He also strives to promote sports and succeeded in hosting the Rugby World Cup games in the prefecture. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 12/7/2018
