Damage caused by wild boar and deer to farms in Fukuoka Prefecture is very extensive, the second worst following Hokkaido. As a result over 20,000 wild boar and 6,000 deer are caught in the prefecture each year. But what to do with all the meat? The aim of this festival is to, with the support of the hunters, wholesalers, and restaurants, promote ways to better utilize the meat as delicious and nutritious food. Participating restaurants include the Itoshima Gibier Lab, Trattoria Calimero, Mikazuki Shokudo Curry, and Yatsushiro Chinese Restaurant. The food on offer will range from boar udon, boar sausage and dumplings, to Hakata gibier gyoza. Are you game to try?
