There were 1,006 cases of HIV infection and 428 cases of AIDS reported in 2015 – a combined total of 1,434 cases. For the past 12 years, the number of cases of HIV and AIDS has been over 1,000 each year. In Fukuoka City, there were 20 cases of HIV infection in 2015, and 7 cases of AIDS – a combined total of 27. These figures include only those who were tested, meaning there are more people going about their daily lives unaware that they have been infected with HIV.
