Banks to Test A.I. Customer Service

Nishi-Nippon City Bank is testing a form of automated customer service which utilizes AI (artificial intelligence) to respond to customers. The system’s ability to use a range of expressions and clear responses to enquiries will be evaluated during this trial run. The system has been developed by NTT Data. A fully integrated service would offer support to users at night or even during holidays. NTT Data plans to commercialize the service sometime after autumn, and Nishi-Nippon City Bank will consider whether or not to proceed with introducing it full-scale. Eight other regional banks, including the Bank of Kyoto, are also participating in the trial. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 6/13/2017
