The fishing season for Shirauo (Ice Goby) will begin on Feb. 18 (Sat.) in the Muromi River, Fukuoka. The season will last until the beginning of April. Shirauo are a popular fish, about 5cm in length with transparent bodies. They are usually eaten alive, and the dancing sensation of the fish on your tongue is known in Japanese as odorigui. The Shirouo Union is working with volunteers and Fukuoka University students researching Shirauo. Shriauo are found in Japan, Korea and China. Source: TNC, Feb. 12, 2017
