Fukuoka City has begun a trial to residents up to date with news about local services through the free app LINE. Add the official Fukuoka City account as a friend on LINE, select where you live, the time that you want to receive notifications and the kind of news you want to receive and you will receive announcements related to disaster prevention, evacuation measures, vaccinations, child care services, garbage collection, and event information. Users will also be sent free original stamps featuring well-known Fukuoka sites and products. The service will run until Oct. 24, and maybe longer after the initial trial period.
