Fukuoka Ranked 37th in Mori’s Global Power City Index

The Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies, a research institute founded by Tokyo-based urban developer and property management firm Mori Building Co., Ltd., released its Global Power City Index (GPCI) report for 2017. The annual survey assesses the ability of major cities throughout the world to attract talented workers and business enterprises. Fukuoka was ranked 37th in this year’s findings, with the city scoring well in the livability and environment categories of the survey. The Asia-Pacific region scored particularly high, with Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Sydney all placed in the top ten. The survey, which looks at 70 indicators across six broad categories (economy, research & development, cultural interaction, livability, environment, and accessibility), ranked London first, with New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Singapore (5) filling the top five spots.
