Kumamoto Prefecture, Kumamoto City, and Kumamoto University will cooperate to open a joint office in Shanghai, China next fall, it was learned. The three entities hope to attract tourists, students wishing to study in Japan, and companies interested in expansion to the prefecture. Five Kyushu prefectures, Fukuoka City, and Kitakyushu already have offices in Shanghai, but this will be one of the few such offices with the participation of a university.
